Alone by Edgar Allan Poe

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.
Whats up with all this freeking heat?!!! I am so tired of being in the 100's!! On another note I cant wait till school starts and I can get a few hrs a day by myself! Some are under the impression that a stay at home mom has plenty of "relax time". I never leave my job...EVER! (lol) Just imagine never being off work..always working except when you are sleeping..no "free" time on the drive to and from work... no "ahhh" feeling when you walk thru the front door :) Dont get me wrong I am very grateful that I get to raise my kids and yes it is very hard and a daily struggle to pay bills on a one income...I am just looking forward to the 2 hrs of "me" time every day :)
Hmm maybe I should make plans to meet some friends for coffee on my free time?!!!

Retirement

Today I got the privilege of being at my moms retirement party. She worked there for 35yrs. I sat and watched theses men and women who have been her life for as long as I can remember and I saw a great lack of "love" It was almost like a birthday party...I was deeply sad for my mom. When she started working there she was hired at $2.45 an hr... can you imagine?!?!?!!!!
I am very lucky ...I remember also being at my granny's retirement party (she retired from a gov. job) and the difference between both party's was like night and day....I hope my kiddos remember their Grammies party :)
